2010 1st Annual Green & Gold Baseball Tournament - Richmond Hill's Midget win Championship!
Going into the playoff round of the Richmond Hill "Green & Gold Classic" tournament as the wild card team with a 2-1 record, the RH Phoenix Midget team won their semi-final game beating North York by an 8-7 score. North York fell behind 5-0 but scored six runs in the 4th inning for a temporary lead. Richmond Hill battled back edging out North York in the bottom of the 6th inning and holding the lead through the 7th to win the game.
In the final game the RH Midget team faced the number one TBA team Etobicoke Rangers. Losing the lead early in the game, the RH defence kept the score 1-0 until the final inning. In a "nailbiting" 7th inning, the Phoenix scored two runs, putting them in the lead by a 2-1 score. With Etobicoke having a man on third and the go ahead run at the plate in the bottom of the 7th inning, the RH Midgets defence shut down Etobicoke hitters to win the game 2-1. A great finish to a great tournament…
